Nathan Leonard is the El Reno District Teacher of the Year.
Leonard, the assistant band director who works out of the Roblyer Learning Center, was chosen by a panel of former teachers who had previously been named Teacher of the Year for the school district, said Brooke Robertson, community outreach director.
Leonard has been teaching in El Reno for the past 10 years. He will represent El Reno Public Schools in the statewide Teacher of the Year competition.
Site teachers of the year include:
Hillcrest: Olivia Melvin, pre-kindergarten teacher. Melvin has been with El Reno Public Schools for nine years.
Rose Witcher: Rebecca Mitchum, first-grade teacher. Mitchum has taught in El Reno for four years.
Lincoln: Kendra Taber, third-grade teacher. Taber has taught in the El Reno system for 18 years.
Junior High: Kylie Schnellier, Etta Dale reading teacher. Schnellier has taught in El Reno for four years.
EHS: Davee Deaton, El Reno High School English I teacher. Deaton has been teaching in El Reno for four years.
Scott Shackelford, an instructor at the Children’s Justice Center. Shackleford has taught in El Reno for 12 years.
The site teachers were selected by fellow teachers at each individual school.

he El Reno High School and Middle School Archery teams qualified for the National Archery shoot again this year in Louisville, Kentucky. We are having a couple of fundraisers to help the students raise money to go. We are having a raffle for a Yeti Hopper two- 20 (soft-sided ice chest) with two 30 oz tumblers- tickets are $5. We are also hosting a potato supper on April 10th at the High School stem building from 5-8 pm– tickets are $5, we will be drawing the winner of the raffle on this night, but you don’t have to be present to win. If you would like tickets for either of these please just send me an e-mail. We are also selling ER pop-sockets. These are $10 and we already have some in stock, so if you would like one please contact Heather Reeves email@example.com.
